Today, over 100 million Americans suffer from at least one chronic disease. With no cure, our friends and families are leashed to treatments that address symptoms rather than root causes.
Our aim is to slash incidence rates of disease in the next generation. We detect risk at the earliest stages, and give couples the ability to tilt the odds toward extending their children's healthspan - the number of years of life uninterrupted by disease.
Orchid is a reproductive technology company working to give everyone the ability to have a healthy child. We are doing the difficult work of measuring and mitigating genetic risk—so the next generation can concentrate on life, not managing a disease.
We're building ultra high resolution genetic reports so that, for the first time in human history, prospective parents can protect their future children from inheriting a predisposition to the most common diseases -- not just rare ones.
All roles are remote-friendly. We are based in San Francisco.
The opportunity to have a trajectory-altering impact on humanity
The opportunity to grow rapidly and influence engineering, product, and the strategic direction of the company.
Competitive compensation (base, equity, generous benefits)

We're a low-ego team of optimistic builders who care deeply about helping every couple have a healthy baby, and we’re looking for exceptional individuals to join the team.
At Orchid, we're working on bringing a new capability for humanity online - the ability to measure and mitigate genetic risk for the diseases that matter most. Instead of health being a genetic lottery at birth, we want every prospective parent to have the information and choice to protect their child from inheriting health risks.
Having a child is a big step in life. Your work directly contributes to a life altering moment for prospective parents and has the potential to bend the trajectory of a child's life toward a healthier future.
In 1990, we started without the ability to even read the 3.2 billion letters in the human genome. We spent 13 years and $3 billion dollars assembling the very first sequence. Since then, the cost of sequencing has plummeted, enabling millions of human genomes to be assembled, often paired with physician-verified diagnoses. The goal of genomic medicine is on the cusp of realization - we have a newfound ability to measure genetic susceptibility for the most common diseases.
Historically, we haven't been able to move beyond rolling the dice to determine health outcomes in the next generation. Be a part of defining a fundamentally new category of precision medicine. Today, we have the opportunity to give parents high resolution data to stack the odds in their child's favor - against diseases that have burdened families for generations.
