You will:

• Identify and develop relationships with fertility clinics, reproductive endocrinologists, and IVF centers

• Partner with clinic staff to integrate Orchid's testing into their IVF workflows

You will:

• Work collaboratively with our lab leadership to provide timely bioinformatics support with attention to detail and clear communication; build repeatable and automated processes when possible
• Define a system to organize our validation samples and how they should be used as our company scales (wet lab protocol adjustments; higher case volume, etc)
• Help execute on critical bioinformatics roadmaps, including hard-to-dos like SMA, FragileX, and exon deletion
• Support the execution of NGS studies for internally- and externally facing projects to advance academic collaborations
• Configure and use modern bioinformatics tools (GATK, Sentieon, etc) to analyze and interpret large NGS datasets
• Collaborate in an interdisciplinary fashion across R&D, engaging in the process of experimental design considering both computational and molecular sides of a project

You have:

• Masters degree or equivalent industry experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related field, additional industry experience preferred
• Expert status in whole genome sequencing analysis
• Expert status in the development and application of bioinformatics algorithms, tools, and pipelines for DNA analyses (e.g. SNVs, INDELs, and CNVs)
• Expert working knowledge of Python and familiarity with R, comfortable working in large, structured, production-grade codebases with multiple contributors
• Experience with one or more bioinformatics workflow orchestration solutions (e.g. Nextflow, snakemake, or CDL)
• Working knowledge of commercial and publicly available biological databases including NCBI, Ensembl, ArrayExpress/GEO, GTEx, gnomAD, TCGA, and/or SRA

You will:

• Conduct all aspects of a typical NGS workflow, including DNA amplification, purification, library preparation, library quantification, and sequencing
• Operate and maintain Illumina sequencing platforms ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Perform routine experiments utilizing established protocols, identifying and resolving issues during procedures
• Analyze and interpret sequencing data, preparing accurate and detailed documentation
• Assume responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results, summarizing and reviewing outcomes with the supervisor
